Obama Speaks out on Faith

Across the country individual churches are helping the poor and offering all kinds of social programs and faith is helping many Americans who want more than possesions, good jobs or to just be busy. This is a statement made by Barack Obama in a speech addressing the religious divide in America. He makes note of people like Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. who practiced religion and instituted great changes in the country. I recently made that connection when I realized, HEY! People are constantly saying what idiots Christians are and yet there are many, many Christians who have made enormous contributions to America, and it's great to have that re-inforced by Obama. I obviously disagree with A LOT of things he says. He takes certain Scriptures out of context and this is an error many (even so-called) Christians make who don't read the entire Bible or who wait for others to interpret it for them. They don't STUDY it.

He obviously doesn't believe that the Bible is always right. But it doesn't matter because there is a seperation of church and state, as well it should be. So I am willing to overlook that. He talks about Christians being pigeonholed as right-wing conservatives/Republicans...which has happened to me. I don't totally disagree with Republicans and I don't completely agree with Democrats. So in looking for the perfect compromise I have to look at someone who isn't completely anti-religion and who therefore views all Christians with extreme prejudice and hatred, and someone who isn't completely closed off into a certain definition of what a Christian should vote for. So far Obama has made the greatest attempt to bridge this gap.

Gulliani is not doing as well as he once was. The Mormon guy, Mint Romey is ahead now and if that dude from Law & Order decides to run, he'll beat 'em all.
