I'm Your Ice Cream Man, Stop Me When I'm Passing By
What makes the workday better? Ice cream! Everyone at work has a popsicle addiction. Apparently there's a "paletero" (ice cream man) who's been coming by for years at our location and we are some of his best customers.
Actually, paleteros are not ice cream men proper because they sell popsicles, not ice cream. They sell these yummy fruit pops in all kinds of delicious and tropical flavors: mango, coconut, tamarindo, guava....it's so awesome! Even better, there is now a popsicle made with mango and chili powder (or cucumber and chili powder, if you prefer) and it is the best sweet-sour treat ever! This treat is famous to us Latinos (it's probably a Mexican thing, to be exact) as you can often buy real slices of mango with chili powder at the beach or in Downtown L.A.
At first I was buying one pop a day, then two...now I stock up. But it doesn't help to stock up because I stocked up yesterday and today I had three popsicles! That's right, I dove into mango-chili-powder, guava and I still bought a cucumber-chili-powder pop when he came by again today. It's sick.
But everyone gets giddy when he comes, even our scary CEO. She got coconut. She's Cuban and appreciates tropical stuff.
I just thought I'd share this with you all. At least I'm getting my servings of fruits and vegetables!
