Two Down....
There was no mystery to the results shows for "America's Next Top Model" or "Dancing With the Stars" tonight. I actually watched ANTM a lot more closely than I did Dancing since the actual performances for the latter were on both Monday and Tuesday and I watched then. This year they had a two-night premier with the female celebs dancing on Monday and the men on Tuesday. One of the men, a supposed model, Rafael felt was not famous enough to be on the show at all. I mean, the guy himself said, "I'm the least famous person on this show." I'll say!
The problem with these celeb-reality shows is that they often scrape the barrel for stars willing to do these bizarre things on-camera for a chance to either reclaim the fame they once knew or make a name for themselves. So you wind up with true D-listers who are sad used-to-wasses or never-beens. I mean, I have much love for a lot of the stars who no longer shine as brightly but I am sort of fed up with these obscure faces with no names being billed as a "Star" as in Dancing with the "Stars". Anyway, I voted for Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. She's 56 and marvelous!
Over on ANTM, our second-favorite, Heather, has a condition called Asperger's Syndrome, which is a mild form of Autism. She reminds me of my cousin, the one who's getting married on October 6th. Not that my cousin is that weird or something...She's really pretty, mind you, so she'd have a shot on a show like ANTM had she tried out when she was still young enough. (That's a sad statement as she's only 27!) Rafael is excited about this development on the show as he works closely with kids with these conditions.
Cousin, and Heather
My actual #1 pick for ANTM this year is Lesa, though Heather is a close second. Lesa is very pretty (actually, Kathy, she reminds me of you if you're reading this) and she was in foster care for six years (there's a nod to MY work!) and she is also an "exotic dancer" though she made it clear she's neither dancing nude nor topless but only in a bikini. Still, one of the other girls to offense took this somehow and for no particular reason. So now they are enemies though by the end of the show they supposedly made up. And, Mila got the boot. She's a nice-looking girl, and curvy, but she took a sort of vacuous picture.
That's two models down. Because over on"Dancing", they eliminated a model too. But not the no-name male model Rafael and I didn't like. It was a woman- a "Sports Illustrated" swimsuit model who got really low scores though I feel she didn't do that poor a job. Unfortunately for her, the truly awful dancer of the bunch was Wayne Newton but "Mr. Las Vegas" obviously has a huge fanbase and she was no match for him. So we get to cringe for at least one more week as we watch him move with no grace at all...I mean, nice try man but fair is fair! Still, I am not emotionally attached to anyone at all this time so I'm not watching the same degree of anticipation as last time. It sort of takes the fun out of it too. How I wish "Project Runway" would start already!

Thank you for your recap girl...
"Dancing with the Stars," though it's only been on for one week, has already disappointed me. ANTM, however, feels as if it's going to have an entertaining season.

Is it the hair or the exotic dancing? I'm glad you're watching this so you can fill me in.

Ha ha...I'm not sure if that's supposed to be a joke or not because I have no idea if you've ever danced exotically or not. I mean, you never know, right? Her hair, though...but also her face. My cousin and Heather look alike at times though you can't tell by the pictures I posted of each.
