What About the Children?

I happen to be home for lunch at a later time today. The reason is that the person who usually covers me at noon is out sick and our supervisor goes to lunch at noon- so I had to stay behind until about 1:15. Anyway, I decided to watch "Montel" because for once, he doesn't have "psychic Sylvia Browne" on. I remember the first time that woman was on the show and ever since Montel has had her repeatedly on the show and it seems every time I am able to watch (out sick, etc.) I can't because she's on and I am not into psychics.

Well, he is doing a show about vanishings/kidnappings and as he went into commercial (I started watching it really late into the show) I noticed that all the missing children he showed were black or Latino or even Asian. I've never seen this! I mean, I'm not trying to be this advocate for minorities but it's true- they just don't get the same press. When he came back from break he had the stroy of a young lady who graduate with honors from a prestigious school and disappeared. Sadly, I'd never heard of her. Obviously she did not end up on the covers of a bunch of magazines like Maddie McCann. Not that I'm saying that little girl should not be looked for. The following story was on a white little boy and apparently he was never seen again after 1976. I doubt he's still alive, then, especially since a convicted child rapist is implicated.

Actually, I saw in the newspaper that a 17-year-old girl was nearly nabbed right by my house. She was walking home around 7:55 pm when men in ski masks tried to take her. She grabbed on to a light post and they gave up. She later flagged down a patrol car and they found her with ripped clothes. Scary!

Nowadays, it's been in the news that the guy who took a little boy and when they found the boy they found ANOTHER boy with him who'd been missing for four years- that guy pleaded guilty and there will be no trial. Apparently, everyone's worst fears were true and these boys were repeatedly sodomized but the older boy DID try to prevent the man from taking the younger boy. There were videos made of the attacks/torture of both boys. That's another thing you see a lot lately- videos/pictures of child sexual abuse. I know it's gone on a long time but it's REALLY prevalent now. Somebody do something! This is a nightmare!
