Well, I'm off the Asian movie kick for a while. I've moved those movies to the middle of the queue and yesterday I got "Scoop" and I liked it. I love ScarJo, I don't begrudge her a thing! By that I mean she can be as rich as she wants and as sought-after and if she starts dating one of the men I love so well, I'd say "Brava!" instead of, "Curse that wretched slut!"
Anyway, on a more serious (but still not too serious) note- I am experiencing a sort of "Teacher's Pet" situation at work. It seems the CEO likes me and she was even defending me today. That's a good thing- sort of. People at the office are starting to hate me. Maybe not outright but I am sure they don't appreciate her speaking up for me. They probably think I went crying to her about this particular situation but I most certainly did not. My direct supervisor wasn't there and if I'd chosen to speak up, I'd have gone to her first. Oh well.
Back to less serious matters.....I am slightly worried that 2 shows I like may get canceled. Even if one survives, that's not enough for me. I want them both to stay on! I speak of (and I'm a little ashamed to admit it) the two so-called "Sex and the City" clones that have been airing on regular TV. Now, I watched "Sex and the City" occasionally, though I don't have premium cable (I got the Season One DVD), and I don't think these shows are really that similar to S&TC. Sure, they take place in NY. Sure, they feature a group of women friends. But these women are very successful and even powerful. Also, the shows being on regular TV means that while there is some sex, it doesn't include nudity or graphic discussions of sex. Unfortunately, die-hard S&TC fans are sending the message that they'll take no imitations, thanks. Also, when two similar shows are on TV, only one usually survives. I mean, remember "Chicago Hope", that other emergency-room drama taking place in Chicago, just like a little show called "ER"? No? My point exactly.
"Cashmere Mafia" seems to have the upper hand for some reason. Darren Star is producer and he was co-creator of "Sex and the City", along with the author of the book by the same name, Candace Bushnell. "Lipstick Jungle" is being produced by Bushnell and is also based on her book. Which of these two will survive, if any? I like them! I like the characters, the clothes, and the drama. I don't agree with most of what they do but the drama just seems to happen and unlike "Sex", we don't really get this "message" thrown at us about the views of these women. We know what they are, as we are seeing how they choose to live their lives, but it isn't necessarily shoved down our throats. This I can appreciate. And the shoes! And, speaking of Asian fetishes, each show has a regular Asian character. Lucy Liu and Lindsay Price play them. I must point out that "Mafia" made a Superman reference, which gives the show an edge in my book. It was Liu's character, who said to her brain-surgeon boyfriend when he once again cut their date short to go to the hospital, "It's okay. When you run off to save someone's life I feel like Lois Lane dating Superman." She could actually date Superman if she liked- she has the requisite double-L name. Curse that wretched slut!

I saw two episodes of Cashmere Mafia and they were okay but I wasn't hooked. Then again I didn't get hooked on Sex and the City until I saw the seasons on DVD. Netflix spoiled me because there are some shows on now that I am waiting to finish so I can see the season on DVD. I am currently seeing the 1st seasons of Weeds and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Yeah, I plan to watch a lot of stuff on Netflix also. Lipstick Jungle is on tonight at 10pm and I will probably watch it although for both those shows (Liptstick & Mafia) I watched the episodes online.
